Ten Games To Go

A normal Big East baseball season consist of thirty games giving  two teams a total of thirty victories and thirty defeats.  Thursday is suppose to be the last day of the regular season when three games should wrap up the regular season.  Starting Tuesday there are still ten games to play which is 1/3 of the conference season is still left.

Only three games are possible Tuesday and three again on Thursday so that leaves four  more that need to be played by Saturday. Because three teams can't play each other at the same time two games will spill over to Monday.  The entire season in Big East Baseball could be upside down by the end of all games Monday May ninth assuming there are no rain outs that continue the season to next Tuesday.

What a mess Nash County being out of school the week before Easter and Wilson County the week after.  Not only is Nash and Wilson fighting over chickens but they don't even talk to each other when making school schedules.

Lady Gryphon softball has not played in two weeks and it showed tonight as Hunt wins 15-0 in three innings.

The One Voice Talent show that was postponed last Thursday due to school getting out early because of the severe weather has been moved to Friday the 13th.

The Big East girls soccer tournament started tonight with the semi finals Tuesday.  The two winners Tuesday  play for the title Thursday.

Russell Wilson has responded as if he is in shock that Tom O'Brien will not let him return to play football next fall after he spends his second summer playing baseball.  I am losing a lot of respect for Wilson now that he is showing that he is for himself and not for the team.

I don't blame O'Brien at all for telling Wilson it is either football or baseball but not both.  What is he suppose to do with Mike Glennon.  Tell him you can be the starter next year for your senior year after he has spent four years as backup to Wilson and has not said one word  when Wilson shows up in August  to take over after not being in spring practice but on the baseball field.

If Glennon flops everyone is going to say boy how dumb can the coach be, but in the long run O'Brien is thinking of the well being not only of this year's team but next year as well.  I hope Glennon does well just because he has been a team player.

U S A

Every day of our life there  are major catastrophes that happen in the world that effect our lives in some way.  Earthquakes, Tornadoes and of course the man made events of something like 9/11.

Today our country is in celebrations as if we have won a championship because we finally got him.  Osama Bin Laden the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks has been surprised in his hideout and taken down by Navy Seals.  This is a great day for our country if for no other reason it tells other criminals of the world when you hit us we will stay after you till we get you.

As a nation we don't tire because the search was long and hard.  John Wayne said it in the movie Red River.  I will show up one night when you least expect it but I will be there.  We have a lot of things about our country that none of us are proud of.  If you are not a proud American  today then you should turn in your citizenship.  Truth, Justice and the American way has won a great victory.

Whatever the destruction whether they are God made or man made we are a country that can come together despite our disagreements when the need is there.  Disaster Relief or protecting freedom we know how to come together when we need too.

As great of victory that this is you know just like I know the new Bin Laden's will hit us as soon as possible to show that they are still in force.  We more than ever need to be on the lookout because we have given them a reason or a good excuse to hit us again.

They hate us and will hate us more now.  Hopefully we have cut the head off of the snake and they have no idea what to do.  But, you know there is going to be a new leader want-a-be that will try something to help get him to jump to be a leader.

We all must now hope that all of these hassles we go through at  airports are justified.  You know back during the Vietnam War kids asking for candy would have hand grenades  in one hand while asking for candy with the other.  So having to be touched in you crotch is just part of living in the world of suicide bombers.

Today we can rejoice because we won a battle today.  We need to stand guard more than ever because we slapped them in the face and they will strike back.  Hopefully our security systems can catch it before it happens but, don't count on it.

Let's See If It Rains This Week

The Big East girls soccer tournament is Monday-Tuesday and Thursday.

Track and Field Regional is set to take place Saturday at Nash Central

If baseball and softball are  lucky enough just maybe come Monday May 9th maybe the regular season will be over.

Lady Gryphon softball has four games this week.  Tuesday at Southern Nash.  Thursday home against Northern Nash and Saturday a doubleheader at Hunt.

Nash Central and Northern never did get their baseball game played last week and they will join Rocky Mount playing on Monday May 9th to end the regular season.  That leaves three of the four teams who will make the playoffs playing for pecking order the week the playoffs start.

Top Gun Hunt is 7-0 they begin the baseball week at Nash Central 3-3.  Should Hunt lose all three games next week then there is going to be a mess trying to decide a conference champion.  Thursday Fike1-5  travels to Hunt and Saturday afternoon Hunt host Rocky Mount.  If any of these games get rained out, Oh brother!

Rocky Mount 4-2 starts Tuesday at Southern Nash 1-7 , then host Northern Nash 4-3  Thursday and travel to Hunt 7-0 Saturday.  They follow all that up Monday hosting Fike 1-5.  If it rains Tuesday they can make that up Wednesday.  If it rains Thursday they try Friday, but Saturday may get slung all the way to Tuesday.

Northern only has two this week.  Tuesday at Fike, Thursday at Northern but they linger till Monday to play Nash Central all three on the road.

Nash Central starts Tuesday Home to Hunt, Thursday home to Southern Nash, Friday at Fike and finish up Monday the 9th hosting Northern.

Fike starts the week at 1-5 and if they could pull off and win all four games they still could make the playoffs.  Their task to win all four is daunting as they play all four teams ahead of them.   Playing the teams you have to catch is an advantage if you win  over hoping somebody else will help you. They host Northern Tuesday, travel to Hunt Thursday, Host Nash Central Friday.  They finish up on the 9th at Rocky Mount.

Southern 1-7 is the only team with only two games this week and they are the only team that knows for sure they will not make the playoffs.

The top four teams have at least three games to go and some four and they have at least two games against each other.  There is a good chance that Monday May ninth will be over before we know where everyone stands and where they will go in the playoffs.
