Hot-Hot And then Some More Hot

sLast night we went to see the Durham Bulls play.  Thank goodness there was a shower around 5pm around the airport heading into Durham that made thing livable for a while.  Landyn our five year old grandson had his birthday party at the game.

Yes the rains cooled everything off but it was back up to  97 degrees when we walked into the stadium.  There was a nice breeze blowing but after the game at10.15 it was still 85 degrees.  It was plenty hot but that breeze sure did make it livable.  The Bulls winning 9-2 didn't hurt.

Day two of the North Carolina American Legion State Baseball Tournament in Morehead City sees Cary fall for the second day in a row.  Saturday they lost to the host team Morehead City 11-7 and Cary is out.  Wayne County survived to play another day as the ten o'clock game they scorched Hickory 14-0 to advance in the losers bracket.  Wilmington and Cherryville won the winners bracket games to meet to square off tonight.

Cary and Hickory by losing yesterday are out and it is down to six teams to go.  Wayne County with only three games today finally gets out of that 10 am game and doesn't play until 4.30 today against High Point after they lost Saturday to Cherryville.

I don't know whether it is the confidence of having qualified for the U S Open or what but Cousin Lauren is tied for fifth heading into the final round on the Futures Tour today.  She still has a barrier to get over.  Last week her first two rounds were 71-70 but on Sunday she shot a 78 and plundered all the way to 65 after being 24th through two rounds.

Friday she shot a 71 but yesterday she shot a 67 which is her personal best since turning pro.  She will be in the third group from the end today and finds herself just two shots out of the lead.  I don't care at this point about her winning as much as today being a day to get over the hump of not shooting 75 or worse at least once every tournament.

Good Luck Lauren I'll be watching your score card  on line starting when she tees off at noon.

State Legion Tournament In High Gear

Wayne County the Eastern Division Champions of Area one opened play in the State American Legion Tournament being held in Morehead City Friday morning the very first game and lost 6-4 which puts them in the losers bracket.  That will put them right back on the field Saturday morning against Hickory who lost 11-3 to Wilmington.

Cary also lost in the second game 11-7 to High Point so both teams representing the Area one is in the losers bracket for Saturday.  I can't speak as to why but with Wayne County loss Friday and Rocky Mount going 0-2 the last two years in the tournament Area one  is having a hard time getting out of the losers bracket.  Cary will play the second game of the day Saturday..

Has anybody noticed this besides me.  Have you noticed when ever the lawyers for the NFLPA or NFL lawyers go into a hotel or headquarters  they all are walking.  Now I would think that these guys are all rich to some degree and could afford a limo or at least a taxi to drive them right up to the front door.  Every day we keep getting these pictures of De Smith or who ever having to weave through the media  to get to the front door.

I realize that it is part of the frenzy that makes all of them look important and the hotels that they are staying at is probably just down the street.  What ever happened to sneaking in the backdoor?

If there was ever a case of too much TV time to fill this NFL agreement takes the cake.  If you actually listened to the NFL announcement they gave a time line based in their words on the time line of the NFLPA agreeing to the terms.  Two hours later the world is falling a part all of these reporters are reporting every tweet by every player and the players are ready to sue.  Seems as if Friday after the players finally got a chance to see the entire document cooler heads prevailed.  I think Monday you can say the NFL is back
