Big weekend for Local baseball

Coleman Pitt Post 58 starts game one of the their best of five round three series with Wilson tonight at Northern Nash and Post 13 drubs Post 58 14-9.

Ben Fish hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to stave off the ten run rule and Xavier Macklin's grand slam and second home run from Ben Fish in the ninth made it respectable but Bentley Massey allowed only five hits into the eighth inning to pick up the win for Post 13. The hitting star for 13 was the DH Zac Crumpler who went five for five and was lifted in the eighth inning.

Even before the first pitch when we found out Mike Williams had injured himself while at the beach and did not start at third base.

Dillon Cockrell pitched into the seventh inning and took the loss for Post 58.

Game two is Monday night at 7.00pm at Fike High Schools as the Wilson Tobs are playing at Fleming Stadium.

Four players from Nash County have made the all State 3-A Baseball team. Rocky Mount's Brian Goodwin is a repeat performer from last year and he is joined by team mates Hobbs Johnson and Ben Fish. Northern Nash's Tyler Joyner has made the team as a pitcher.

I hear that B W Holt's mother has had a heart attack in the past few days and coach is in Fayetteville with his mother.

The Rocky Mount Junior Legion team won twice on Friday and qualified for the State Junior Legion championships in Asheboro starting Friday.

In Senior Tar Heel little league play today in Zebulon, The American League all stars are undefeated and await the winner of Zebulon and and Rocky Mount. Rocky Mount National played twice Sunday winning 4-0 and 5-3 who play at 6.00pm Monday against Zebulon . The winner of that game must beat Rocky Mount American in a second game Monday and then beat them again Tuesday.

Already this weekend the Midget 9/10 year old team won the district tournament and are heading to the state championships in the Dunn/Irvin area.

Finally tonight I am distressed to hear the the Babe Ruth 14 year old team lost out in the district tournament in Greenville. I think the players played admirable but I understand a parent was tossed from the game and after it was all over one of our mothers assaulted the umpire.

Thank you parents was embarrassing our team our city and our county. When ever the trial comes up I am sure this will make every publication and radio sport talk show in the country.

When the trial comes up I hope the judge bans the mother from any game that her son ever plays in again.

The games are not that important!
