Last Game Approaches

This is the last year of high school baseball at the old Municipal Stadium which is now Gryphon Stadium. May 19th has been set as the day the alumni will play the varsity team in what is being billed as the last high school game ever at Gryphon Stadium.

Several players have committed and those up to this point are Paul Jenkins, Jeremy Ward, David Ange, Chad Womble, Will Johnson,  Terrell Hudgins, Grant Johnson, Jim Leggett, Dillon Cockrell, and Braxton Hill.  We have not heard from you as of yet.  Even you old guys that can't run to first base any more need to be there to be recognized one last time.  This is a celebration of what Rocky Mount High School has done in baseball winning five state titles in it's school 's history.

Tonight on the All New Sports Show we are showing the game just recorded last Thursday the Rocky Mount at Northern Nash baseball game.  Air time is 8.00pm on WHIG-TV.

Tyler Joyner of Northern Nash and ECU lost his first college game of his career Saturday as he failed to get out of the fifth inning losing 5-2.  Record not too shabby at 5-1 for the Pirates.

One of the reasons that Hobbs Johnson only pitched into the fourth inning for Carolina  Wednesday night in his first career start is he was on a pitch count and coach Mike Fox wanted him to be available for this weekends series with Virginia for some  relief  work.  He got it Saturday coming in after the Carolina starter failed to go more than two innings.  Hobbs went 1.1 innings.  Today he came in in the seventh and pitched to one batter.

Benton Moss took the hill today for Carolina as they were trying to sweep Virginia.  Benton pitched six inning ans gave up two runs and left the game leading 5-2.  He struck out nine and walked only one.  Carolina won 5-3 giving Benton his third win with two losses.

Once again today Nash Central and UNC Pembroke pitcher Alex Pearce has a typical day at the office as he scattered 10 hits over seven innings but the important thing only two runs crossed the plate as Pembroke beat USC-Aiken 8-2.  Alex is now 7-3 on the season.
