Who Dat

The New Orleans Saints have won the Super Bowl. They won not with great defense or a ride up and down the field offense. They won because they wanted it more.

The Colts won the first quarter but the last three were owned by the Saints. It was not because they were better but because they risked every thing when the Colts chose to be conservative.

Down 10-3 just before the half Shaun Peyton and the Saints went for a touchdown on a fourth and one at the one. They failed but the conservative Colts tried to run out the half and gave the Saints a field goal on the last play.

The Saints tried an on side kick to begin the third quarter and scored a touchdown before the Colts touched the ball. Instead of up 10-3 at the half the Colts trailed 13-10 midway in the third quarter.

The Saints best defense was keeping the ball away from the Colts and it worked.

The Saints winning the Super Bowl is like the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004. The lovable losers are finally winners.

What can you say about North Carolina and North Carolina State in ACC basketball this year. I had thought that Georgia Tech might be the best in the ACC, but after watching their collapse aganst N C State Saturday I think this is the worse ACC league in all my years of watchin it. I had been to many games before but along about 1962 is when I was old enough to understand that I loved watching ACC Basketball.

If this is the worse league ever what can be said for the Tar Heels and Wolfpack the worse two team in in the worse league. Not much!

The final week of the high school basketball season is upon us. The Gryphon boys lead the league by one game but three big games to play this week. The girls are in a flatfooted tie with Fike heading down the stretch. The conference tournament is next week at Hunt.
