A Come Back For The Ages

Yes the Tar Heels scored eight points in sixteen seconds back during the 70's when Duke was like N C State is now. Today on a bigger stage the Tar Heels came back from 19 down the last 11 minutes and Tyler Zeller sends Miami home in shock.

I have seen enough ball games in my life that when a team jumps out to say a 7-0 lead very early on in a game that fans need to realize that if your team is any good at all they will make a run. I like to see when the team that is behind early what is the score when the team behind finally gets to 20 points. Today Carolina had tied the score only to watch Miami pull away by 11 at the half and leading 53-34 when when the comeback began.

Today was the biggest comeback in Carolina Tournament history and for the first time this year they played as the hunted being the regular season champs over trying to get respect after their 4-3 start on the season. Who would ever thought this could be said about Carolina this year but regardless of what happens the rest of the weekend they just might be as good as anybody when the NCAA tournament starts.

Tonight Duke pulls away late from Maryland. A major scare for the Devils as Nolan Smith went down with the Devils only leading by five under ten minutes to play. Kyrie Irvin worked out for the Devils during the pregame. I bet Irvin gets about five minutes of action in the semi final game on Saturday. The biggest question will be how severe is Nolan Smith's toe hurt.

The upset road has ended for the Pirates of ECU. Tonight UTEP wins by 20 over the Pirates.

The NFLPA has walkout of the meetings with the NFL owners and decertified. You know those NFL players who would be considered the poverty players make $460,000 a year. I don't understand how players with individual contracts can form a union and want 60% of all the gross money. I don't feel sorry at all for the owners because they all make millions who own teams but the fans will eventually pay higher ticket prices and if it ever comes to it that in order to see it at all on TV you will have to buy a pay for view to see it. That day is not as far away as you might think.

Gryphon baseball will put Benton Moss on display Saturday morning at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary. The Gryphons will play Forsyth Country Day a private school from Winston Salem that has three D-1 pitchers on their roster. I suspect this game will be a showcase for what the Gryphons will face when conference play starts. Moss will pitch against the best from the other conference schools and the Gryphon bats will have to score runs in order to win.
