83 Champs Featured On ESPN's 30-30

Monday night former Rocky Mount High School basketball player George McClain  was at Reynolds Coliseum as were many Wolfpack faithful as ESPN debuted it's next segment in their series called 30-30. "Survive and Advance" it will be about the 1983 N C State Wolfpack and their trip to the biggest upset in NCAA Tournament finals history and the thrity years that have passed losing Coach Valvano and even the star player who made the winning basket.

McClain a freshmen guard one year removed from winning the 4-A State basketball  Championship at Rocky Mount was a member of the championship team in 83.  ESPN will run it's latest segment Sunday night at 9pm right after the NCAA Selection shows and all of the talk that goes on after.

Got the word Tuesday afternoon from Paul Andre that Power 95 will be carrying the Rocky Mount Prep basketball game Saturday from Reynolds Coliseum.  Last week Paul and I had made arrangements that if both Rocky Mount and Prep made it to Raleigh that I would do the play by play of the Gryphon game and Paul would do color and he would do the play by play  for Prep an I will handle the color.  If need you will be able to go on line from any where in the world and pick up the radio feed at powerhits95.com.  I have the details later at what time we will go on the air.

Gryphon baseball had a scheduled game on Tuesday but with the forecast for rain the game was pushed up to Monday and Rose beat the Gryphons 9-3. They are at home Thursday afternoon at 4pm when they host Bunn.

If you were excited about hockey back in 2002 when the Carolina Hurricanes played for the Stanley Cup and if you were ecstatic when they won it in 2006 well you had better get ready for another Stanley Cup run.  If you have been upset about the Strike/Lockout and have not been paying attention this years addition of the Carolina Hurricanes when they are healthy are really good.

Last night they beat Washington 4-0 in Washington.  They had a period where they had several players out for a while but  they are all getting healthy and are right now the 3rd seed in the east when the playoffs start.  Cam Ward is nursing a knee injury but his two backups had been great in net and Carolina is no longer a let's score two goals and hold on team.  They have three lines that can put the puck in the net.
