It's Up To The Trustees

Thursday Morning the Trustees of the University of North Carolina will get a chance to see the deal that New Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham has made with what looks like the new head football coach of the Tar Heels.  If the Trustees like what they see Carolina will announce a new football coach Friday morning.  The man with the plan is Larry  Fedora who just lead Southern Mississippi to an 11-2 record and the Conference-USA Championship.

I know there are a lot of Carolina supporters that think Carolina could have gotten a so called big named coach but those Tar Heel supporter still think it is THE University of North Carolina.  Please, there is no school in North Carolina that plays football that can pay top 15 coaches money.  Fedora who makes about 960 thousand at Southern Miss will probably double that in Chapel Hill but that is well short of the big money.  Let me assure  all Carolina fans that you will get a better coach than the one you just run out of town.  He is a disciplinarian and he moves to score points.  I think that is what everyone wants to see.

Tonight the cameras of the Stretchlon Sports Show were in Pinetops where Nash Central took a double header from SouthWest Edgecombe.  The Bulldog boys won 61-49 while in the girls game the Lady Bulldogs won 52-41.  There was something about tonight's game you don't see everyday.  There are not many times when you have two teams that both are being coached by the only coach the schools have ever had.  Sandra Langley has been at SWE since the school opened in 1979.  Terri Cash started out at Nash Central in 2003 and still roams the sidelines for the Lady bulldogs.

If you have been to any non-conference games this year all four basketball games two jvs and the two varsity games are all played in one gym. Once the Big East conference play starts  the jv's will play like baseball on the other teams gym which will put all girls games starting at 6.00pm.

Rennie Taylor the boys basketball coach at Nash Central  told me tonight that he would rather keep all four games at the one site even though sometimes the jv games drag past 6pm for the varsity games and this makes sense.  When you have all four games at ones site there is a bigger gate due to the fact that those that pay to get in to see the JV games stay over and buy more concessions.  Makes sense to me.
