Rained out Again

Tonight's game with Fike at Fike has been postponed until Wednesday night.

The Northern Nash At Nash Central game has also been rained out and they will also play Wednesday night.  Instead of playing at Nash Central they are switching to Northern Nash.  There is a track meet at Nash Central Wednesday so the switch is being made to play at Northern for baseball.  The second time around Northern will travel to Nash Central.

The weather and Easter are really taking a toll on spring sports  this year and most teams are to the point that they need to make any rain out up as soon as possible.

Last Night Northern Nash girls beat Rocky Mount in soccer 2-1 in overtime. You know that had to be a great game.

Lady Gryphon softball took another hit on the chin last night as they fell to Roanoke Rapids.  They only have one more non-conference game left on May the 4th against Louisburg a team that beat Rocky Mount 7-4 a month ago.  That Louisburg game  they still may be looking for their first victory of the season and it is at home.

The national championship game in college basketball was a real stinker.  It was the lowest scoring final game since 1949.  I am really having a hard time saying that athletes are better today than in years past.  The Kentucky Game last Saturday when they called time out with ten seconds to play trailing by two points and never once even tried to go inside but took a wild three point shot tells me that today's player is more worried about being the hero instead of doing what is best for his team.  Kentucky had no hero's Saturday.

This weekend is my favorite of all in every year.  The Masters is up front this weekend in sports.  I doesn't matter how bad the winter has been but the Masters is like the Groundhog and the official announcement of spring is here.  When Arnold Palmer or Jack Nicklaus hits that first ball off the tee Thursday morning spring is here.

                                                           Urgent

North Carolina State has announced a 5.00pm news conference where they will name Mark Gottfried as the new Wolfpack Basketball coach.  Gottfried comes from Alabama where he was fired in 2009.  Gottfried has been a TV analyst since Alabama.

Gottfried took Alabama to the NCAA tournament half of his years in Tuscaloosa.  You also have to remember if there is one football school in this country it would be Alabama.  So taking any teams to the NCAA is hugh in Alabama.  I can't say this is a home run but it is not even close to being a disaster that all the national media was spinning.
