ACC Goes Bowling

Virginia Tech the ACC champion will play Stanford in the Orange Bowl on January third. The traditional 8.30 start for the Orange bowl. Losing their first two games of the season and one of those to James Madison the Hokies have rebounded and not lost since.

Florida State the losers in the ACC championship game get the Chick-fil-a Bowl in Atlanta on December thirty first at 7.30. They will play South Carolina who was passed over in the Sugar Bowl after having lost in the SEC championship game.

Boston College gets to play in the who wants to play in this bowl game better known as the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl being played in San Fransisco. Tom O'Brien left BC because the only Bowls games that BC got were the ones on blue fields or California. The reason of course is BC just doesn't have the fan base to sell 25,000 tickets to one of the southern bowl games. They will play Nevada. This game could be called the opening of the 2011 football season since it will not be played until January ninth 9.00pm

Ralph Frigden and Maryland will take on the Pirates of ECU. This is the Military Bowl being played in one of my favorite stadiums RFK in Washington. The way the Pirates score points Pirate fans will have an opportunity to bounce up and down if they sit in the lower level of the stadium. RFK is truly one stadium that when they say that place was really rocking, really does. Game time is December twenty ninth at 2.30pm.

Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte will feature the Clemson Tigers as they take on South Florida. Game time is noon on December thirty first. I would suspect Clemson will fill the stadium if their fans are excited about going bowling. I don't know about this year whether they will be or not.

The Sun Bowl which most of the time is the coldest game of all the bowls will have Notre Dame and Miami. There are only two bowls games this entire bowl season not on ESPN and CBS which has carried this game for a zillion years will do it again. 2.00pm kickoff on December 31st.

North Carolina despite all that has gone on this year still has had a good season. They will be in the Music City Bowl in Nashville (TN) not (NC) on December 30th. They will meet the Vols of Tennessee in their own back yard. I would love to see both wear their dark uniforms with Tennessee in their orange and Carolina in the light blue.

The eighth bowl game for the ACC is the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. The Wolfpack will take on West Virginia. Game time is 6.30pm of December 29th. The last time the Pack played in Orlando Pittsburgh beat Philip Rivers and company in this same bowl by another name.

The ACC will get eight chances to improve their reputation which this year has taken a hit in both football and basketball.
