Let's Talk Gryphons

The next games for the Rocky Mount Gryphon basketball teams is next Friday at home against Greenville Rose.  There is a good chance that Tia Hudgins will hit the milestone of 1,000 points in her career.  Every athlete when ever they achieve special levels in their career they want to do in in front of the home folks.  Next Friday's game is the last home game of 2011 for Rocky Mount.

They take part in the Nash County Christmas Tournament which runs from  Monday through Wednesday  December 19-20-21.  I think playing the tournament before Christmas is a very good idea.  Rocky Mount faces Northern Nash in the opening round and we will get a look at the two best teams in the Big East Girls square off against each other.

Every team is made up of little pieces and when you fit the pieces together  you hope that they make a well oiled machine.  Any time any of the pieces breaks then either someone has to pick up the slack or the pieces don't work  like you want to see.  Last night Junior M J Gainey went down with an injury for the Gryphon boys. He is one of those pieces that has fitted together to make the Gryphons go  the first month of the season.

We said yesterday that last nights games with South Central were indication games.  You can get a truthful reading on how good you really are.  Winning both games last night in Winterville  against South Central is an indication that both Gryphon basketball teams might be pretty good this year. That's not saying that both weren't good last year

This is  thinking out loud.  I wonder whether Pam and Mike Gainey ever while sitting at the dinner table draw up basketball  plays and critigue each other?  I would like to know how many other husband/Wife coaching combinations there are out there.
