All Nash County Schools Win

The first time this year all four public high schools have won in the same night as Northern Nash visits the winners column for the time as they shut out South Central 21-0  This is the same South Central team that just a couple of weeks ago hung 46 on Greenville Rose even though they lost.  A big win the the Knights on the home turf.  Or should I say at Nash Central.  Death Valley on the campus at Northern Nash had no power so the game was shifted to Nash Central.  You might remember that has now happened twice within the last ten years as Northern has played at Nash Central. I think in 2002 the Knights crushed Rocky Mount when the Gryphons had to play their home games at the Dawg Pound following Hurricane Floyd.

Nash Central traveled to Ahoskie to take on the Bears and the final score is NC 61- HC 21.  The Bulldog defense gets a couple of scores in the fourth quarter to  make the wide difference as it was.  There is possible bad news for the Bulldogs as Bulldog quarterback Jalen Hendricks was a target for the Bears defense as they had several late hit penalties in which on one of them Hendricks came away with a sprained ankle and did not play in the second half.  Sure does seem as if they didn't need him anyway.

After a couple of very impressive wins  Southern Nash has found the goal line hard to cross the last two weeks.  The good news for them as their defense has stopped their opposition enough for Firebird wins.  Friday night Roanoke Rapids gave the Firebirds all they wanted as SN scored once in the second half while RR did not.  Firebirds 14 Yellow Jackets 7.

Rocky Mount finally got to look inside the locker room at The Sports Complex for the first time this year and they like the feeling of playing at home.  Mason Hines rushed for 171 yards  and scored once and MJ Gainey caught two touchdown passes as the Gryphons beat SouthWest Edgecome 34-14.  SouthWest did not get a first down on their own until midway of the third quarter.  A fumble recovery touchdown by the Cougars looked as if that was all the Cougars could get until a late fourth quarter drive got themselves an offensive touchdown.

Tarboro at North Edgecombe, it doesn't matter where they play.  Tonight in Leggett and about the same score as always.  Tarboro 46 North Edgecombe 6

Hunt paid a visit to Beddingfield and of course this is the same Bruin team that shutout Northern and almost best Southern Nash.  Friday night it was all Hunt as the Warriors win  46-8.

Big game in Winston Salem today at State plays Wake.  Carolina host The State University of New Jersey Rutgers just after noon.  There will be a fever pitched crowd in Greenville as ECU host Virginia Tech and right here in Rocky Mount  Livingston and Elizabeth City State will play in front of about ten thousand fans as they collide in the Down East Viking Classic.
