A Good Saturday To Be home

The Rocky Mount Gryphon baseball team was in Four Oaks this afternoon getting ready to play their first game in the South Johnston Baseball Tournament.  They had been scheduled to play at 5.30 but the warnings that the weathermen have been giving for a couple of days now that severe weather was going to hit Saturday afternoon the South Johnson  folks moved game time up to 4.00pm.

Rain and wind put the game on hold and while waiting several members of the team witnessed a funnel cloud off in the distance.  If you have been home watching all the weather today this cloud is believed to be the one that hit Smithfield.

The Gryphons will play West Johnston at 10.00am Monday.  If they win they will play at 6.00pm Monday night but a lost and they will play again early Monday afternoon.

Wind has been a major problem for the Northern Nash softball tournament going on at Glover Park in Nashville today.  Rocky Mount girls played C B Aycock at 11.00 and lost 15-0.  Early in the afternoon the JV's played Faith Christian and the Patriot Varsity won 21-0.  I don't think wind had much to do with either of those scores.

You have to admit that the communications  in this world today gives us the opportunity to see weather as it happens to some degree.  I was watching Andy Griffith  when Pat said Channel Five is off the air because of a Tornado. I have been glued to the TV since.

Morgan has been on Face book and several Baseball players have spoke of seeing the funnel cloud.  We live in a ultra modern world and yet we have no control what so ever earthly event.  Earthquakes, Hurricanes or Tornado's.

I sit here at home watching the news and pray that everyone is safe.  I also hope that each person has his score settled with the Lord because as much as we think that we did this or that.  There is only one God in control that allows us to do the things we do.
