There is not much time for any minor leaguer to make a late season rush to get his stats high as possible in order that the big league club could actually say come join us in September on the Big club. Minor leagues will end their season by the end of August and those teams in the playoffs will begin the minor league playoff run.
Collins Cuthrell has had a good week and his average has spurted to 264. He still leads Florence Kentucky with seven home runs even though he has less at bats as most other players on the team. His 33 RBI also leads the Freedom.
Brian Goodwin still hovering at 223. He has batted 354 times this season and is second in Harrisburg Pa in home runs with 7. He is tied for the lead with 4 triples.
Benton Moss playing for Hudson Valley is 1-2 with a 2.33 ERA having pitched 38.1 innings. He has struck out 42 batters. I would suspect Benton might get a chance to play fall ball after his upcoming marriage.
Hobbs Johnson record in Buloxi Ms is now 7-6. His ERA now is 3.45 which is still very respectful. The latest Milwaukee Brewers top 30 list Hobbs is listed as the 29th best prospect and the fifth best left handed Pitcher in the Brewers minor league organization.
Isaiah White is still blistering the Gulf Coast League at 330. A very interesting stat is White has 32 hits and has struck out 32 times. It is obvious he has tremendous speed and if he improves those strike outs one out of every three times his average could really go up. This is almost exactly how Brian Goodwin started but so far his one in five strikeouts is keeping him mired in AA. White's speed will get him to AA maybe next year but in other to get to AAA he will need to cut down on the K's.
Finally you know that Andrew Miller the former Carolina pitchers is having a standout season as the New York Yankees closer. During his major league career he is 31-40 and a career 4.70 ERA. This year he is 1-2 but as the Yankee stopper he is wheeling and dealing with ERA of 2.14. Surely looks as if Andrew has arrived.
