Here we are in late July and all of the all star teams are playing all over the state in tournaments trying to win districts in order to go to state tournaments, if you win that a Southeast regional and if you win that a national tournament.
This weekend the Rocky Mount 9/10 midget all stars the winners of the district tournament in Zebulon a couple of weeks ago start the state tournament in Dunn.
This past weekend the Junior legion team for Rocky Mount and Nash Central team played in the State tournament in Asheboro. Nash Central lost out on Saturday and Rocky Mount was knocked out yesterday.
Still to come the 11/12 year old little leaguers begin their state tournament in the mountains July 31st.
The senior legion starts their state title tournament Saturday in Greenville. Unlike the little league where the state championship is as far as you can go, Legion if we were to get by and win the state there is still a southeast regional in Sumter South Carolina and if you win that the national tournament in Fargo North Dakota.
Heaven help any parents that have two kids playing in two different age groups as motels and gas, and food can eat you a live with all the travel.
This does not include all the Babe Ruth 13,14 and 15 year old tournaments that they were trying to get to.
We all think our children are the best on the team and when ever they make an all star team and represent us we drag our whole family all over creation to follow that all star team.
Life isn't easy following any sport whether it soccer or tennis.
But,
It's part of watching our children grow up. Hopefully one day we will follow our grand children the same way.
