There Will Be Little League Baseball Sunday

The Red squared off against the Blue at high noon at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex as the Tar Heel Midget Little League District Tournament had whittled itself down to three teams.  The two that squared off at noon were in the losers bracket which only the winner survives.

  The Rocky Mount American League All Stars had battled back from an opening loss for them in the tournament's second round to meet up with the team that had put them in the losers bracket to begin with, the National League All Stars from  Rocky Mount.  It is not what either wanted to meet in the semi finals but as they say that is the way the brackets fell and one is out and the other plays again at 2.00pm.

There has been enough success by all of our summer baseball programs that when the All Star teams begin play they want to do as good as the team last year did  and of course that means win the State title.  To find the National league and American league both fighting  to stay alive is not what  all these guys envisioned.

This is the second match up with each other in this tournament at once again the National whips the American League with a 15-3 victory.  This set up a 2.00pm title game for Zebulon who all they had to do was win and they were the district champs and off to Hickory they go.  These two having play an awesome game last night which Zebulon won 4-3 everyone expected the same today and in the end Rocky Mount prevailed to send the District Tournament into a true championship game at 2.00pm Sunday as everyone now has one loss.  The Nationals beat Zebulon 12-9 to survive to play another day.

The Stretchlon  Sports Show Cameras will be there which will actually be the third time this week that the National League has caught the cameras.  They have done very well in front of the cameras winning twice by a score of 30-1.

The Babe Ruth 13 year old team lost Saturday night 11-2 to Lumberton  and has dropped into that  feared losers bracket which will sent them to a 7.00pm game Sunday. If they win that game they then will need to beat Lumberton twice on Monday starting at 4.00pm.

The USA beat Canada 50-7 to win the International Federation of American Football title in Vienna Austria.  The game did not start until 7.00pm Saturday USA time so I wonder how many people were actually at the game in Vienna  that is being played at three in the morning.  Rocky Mount's Stephan Virgil was a member of the USA team.
