What A Difference A Week Makes

You knew when the first play of the game there was a snap to the tailback and the Gryphons were running the Miami Dolphins Wildcat offense you knew change was in the air. Then the second play they brought in a quarterback with 20 on his back and a pitch sweep produced 27 yards the Gryphons had caught Hertford County totally unprepared for the new look offense. by halftime the Gryphons had accumulated 21 points and over two hundred yards more than their last two games combined.

One more major decision had been made by Coach Schock and the coaching staff. Tonight several players played on both offense and defense something that no coach wants to do but it has become necessary for the Gryphons.

Halftime the Bears were able to adjust to what the Gryphons were doing and all those players playing both ways began to feel the effects and Hertford County dominated the second half as Rocky Mount had the first. The Bears scored with 41 seconds to play brought on the most shocking play of the night.

Hertford County kicker Brandon Warren had booted three kickoffs in or near the enzone and both of his previous two extra points had landed in down town Rocky Mount but somehow Rocky Mount put on a surge just enough to get into the Hertford County backfield and block the tying kick. the gryphons landed on the on side kick and survive 21-20 over previously unbeaten hertford County.

Rocky Mount rush for over 202 yards almost all in the first half. Rodquez Greene rush for 79 yards, he was followed by Johnathan Williams with 72. Mason Hines pitch in with 56 yards. Rocky Mount held HC to under fifty yards at the half and the Bears finished with over 200 in the second.

The tale of two halves goes to Rocky Mount 21-20.

Almost the same scenerio for Northern Nash in Winterville as Northern lead 14-0 at the half and hangs on to win their second game of the season 14-12 over South Central.

Tarboro blitzes North Edgecombe 41-0 taking out their flustrations from their effort against Northern Nash last week.

I can't wait to hear what happen at Southern Nash as The Yellow Jackets of Roanoke rapids shock the Firebirds 27-21. Without knowing a thing about the game but the score I bet the Firebirds laid the ball on the ground several times in that one.

I said if this game was close that it meant that both SouthWest Edgecombe and Hunt were going to be very good. SWE pulls razzle dazzle on Hunt with less than a minute to play and pulls out a 23-16 victory over Hunt at Pinetops. No doubt this was the game of the week in the area.
