Game One Goes To Post 11

It is not how many innings that you score in but how many when you do.  Coleman Pitt Post 58 got eight shutout innngs from Jeremy Lucas and then reliever Dillon Moore.  Lucas shut out Post 11 the first five but the sixth he got only one batter out as Wayne County scored seven times before Moore could extinguish the fire.  During the inning CP 58 made an error, threw to second to get the lead runner on a sac bunt but the runner was safe and Post 11 scored their 7th run on a suicide squeeze as the ball popped up in the air hit about three inches from being foul  but stayed fair because of the wet grounds.  Moore shut out Post 11 after that.

CP 58 score in the bottom of the second when Jeremy Sloop playing shortstop singled home  the lead run to give 58 a 1-0 led. Tyler Wooten drove in CP 58's  second run in the third  and it stayed 2-0 until the seven run inning up roar by Post 11 in the sixth.  CP 58 score three times in the seventh at Matt Berry Double home two runs and he score when CP 58 tried a squeeze and the Post 11 pitcher stopped  mid wind up and Berry scored  on a balk  Still with a chance for more runs CP 58 failed  produce  any more in the seventh.

The balk call brought Post 11 coach Rob Watt out of the dugout to argue the call and what seemed to be a normal conversation until home plate umpire Leo Lockhart threw Watt out of the game.

Post 58 threatened again in the eight inning and pitch hitter Stevie Williams with runner on second and third hit a shot at shortstop Cody Davis who bobbled the ball but had enough composure to still throw Williams out as run #6 was scoring and the runner on second was rounding third heading home.  CP 58 went quietly in the ninth.

Game two is at 7.00pm Saturday night at Mt Olive College in MT Olive.  It is do or die time as CP 58 must win Saturday night to force the action back to Rocky Mount for a Sunday third game. The lost drops CP 58 to 17-6 on the season and a real odd stat they are now 6-5 in home games if you don't count the two forfeits as home wins.  We might be better off just telling Wayne Co we will play a double header at their place tomorrow.  Should Post 58 get a third game it will be back at  Nash Central Sunday night.

Coleman Pitt scores in three innings to only one for Post 11 but that one was enough as Wayne County beat Post 58 7-5.
