Free Education Demands

There is a story today about a UNC football player who got in a fight at 3am in the morning and was arrested for his actions.  I hear that he has been suspended from the team.  I think that any person who is given a free ride to go to college has a responsibility to act according while representing that university.

This applies to any academic scholarship, athletic or  any type of free money to go to college.  That person needs to have some culpability that if he fails to live up to a standard that embarrass those who are allowing them to go to that institution for free should be removed from that free ride.  When I say removed from the free ride I mean off schlarship.

I suspect when all the evidence is in this young man probably had some amount of alcohol which to me is an embarrassment to himself, the institution and to those who are helping pay his free ride.  This case could very well mean that there are people reading this that pay money to the Rams C lub that help send that young man to Carolina to play football.  I can assure you this is not intended to hit on Carolina who is getting hit enough without this incident adding to their misery.  Every college and University has issues like this all the time.

Can someone please tell me why everyone is so upset with the part time refs that the NFL is using for the first three weeks of the season so far.  How easy we forget how sorry we think the real guys are when they get back.  We are all now telling the NFL bring back the good refs when we all know whenever this strike/lockout ends we will be begging to bring back the part timers.

Just about everybody has written the the 49er's into the Super Bowl and they up and lose to the Minnesota Vikings.  When I go to work every day some days I do better that others and despite how good a team is or can be there are days that they don't function properly that day.  Yesterday was that kind of day for the Niners.

Lauren Doughtie heads into the last weekend of the Futures tour events for this year and she is right at $10,000 out of tenth place and tenth place gets a LPGA playing card for 2013.  This event this weekend only the top two spots will earn at least 10,000 and if she can do that she has to hope that those that are 8th, 9th and 10th don't win enough money to close her out of the top ten even if she wins.  It is a long shot for her at best.
