Nash County 14U Wins Eastern State Title

Tonight playing as the only undefeated team left in the tournament Nash County Babe Ruth 14U  Allstars beat The Outer banks 10-3 to win the Eastern Babe  Ruth State title.  The victory gives Nash County an invitation to the Babe Ruth SouthEast Regional which start July 29th in Marion NC.

The Nash County All Stars took three games over the weekend beating Greene County 7-0.  They followed that knocking off Lumber River East 13-3.  Sunday the 14U All Stars put themselves in the driver seat beating Lumber River West 7-1.  That put Nash County into a 5:30 game Tuesday who had a game to lose if needed but didn't need to play an eight pm game  as the boys from Nash County were the only team standing undefeated and all others had two losses.

Tim Killebrew is the head coach of this team who dominated everyone  scoring 37 runs while giving up only 7.  I will be trying to contact Tim and getting a roster of the Champs.

Recap of last night's East West All Star basketball games in which the west won both games I can tell you Rocky Mount's  two players made us all proud in their performances in each game.  All Star games in which every player gets their chance in the few minutes  each are the game  both Alexus Hill and Dante Battle play more than half the game.  Twelve players dividing up 160 minutes works out to just under 14 minutes each.  Hill in the girl's played 21 minutes while Battle played 20.

Hill in typical fashion scored eight points had three rebounds, one assist and one steal.  She also was part of the play of the game when leading a fast break whipped a behind the back pass which lead to stir the crowd.

Battle who scored thirteen points on 6 for 8 shooting and hauled down 13 rebounds in 20 minutes. He also had two blocks on defense.  Those numbers  were good enough to win the MVP if the East had won the game.  We all should be proud as punch as Alexus Hill  of Northern Nash and Dante Battle from Rocky Mount played like the All Stars they are in representing us in Greensboro.
