Bad Day In Black Rock

Tonight both Rocky Mount Academy and Faith Christian hoping to meet up later in the state private school playoffs were both derailed and knocked out tonight. RMA at home after a first round bye lost 4-3 to Davidson Country Day while Faith lost to Parrott Academy of Kinston 7-5.

Northern Nash already the regular season champs of the Big East will try to sweep the tournament as well when they host Hunt Saturday night at Northern.  Both are already guaranteed playoff spots starting next week so the out come will not  make any difference and no seedings will change regardless of the outcome.

The UNC baseball team opened a crucial three game series with Florida State and the results are not good for the Tar Heels as they lose 7-0.  The Tar Heels need at least one win this weekend  to stay above 500 in ACC.

NC State is three games behind Wake, two behind Pitt  so this weekends series against Wake in Raleigh is huge.  No trouble for Carlos Rodon  as he came back into the game after a rain delay and pitched seven innings striking out 9 as the Pack takes a much needed game one  9-1.  If the Pack sweeps the Deacs this weekend they are in a tie.  The Pack got help else where as Maryland beat Pitt 21-1.  Rodon last five starts his ERA is.70.

There is always good news when you hear about a athlete who once he turned pro stayed with it and finally despite having a very  productive pro career graduated  college.  New Carolina Panther Jerrico Cotchery and former NC State receiver  who caught many passes from Philip Rivers  ten years ago will walk and turn his college tassel and graduate from N C State.

Haven't had much good news to tell about Cousin Lauren Doughtie over the last few weeks as she has not made a cut in about five tournaments.  This weekend the Futures Tour is in South Carolina in a four round tournament and Lauren has made the cut and tied for 11th spot.  She is even parr after the first two rounds.
