Play Ball With A TV Guide

University Of North Carolina Asheville will either be the first team to advance in the NCAA Tournament or the first out as the Bulldogs have drawn a play in game in Dayton on Tuesday night. The game will start at 6.30 on truTV. Ok, where is that on the TV? I have Direct TV so on Direct 246 and 246-1. One is standard and the other is HD If you have Dish Network you can pick up tru on channel 204. Suddenlink in Rocky Mount can find the game on 231.

I have a pulling interest for Eddie Biedenbach as back in the 1960's he was my favorite basketball player. In fact Biebenbach has been voted the greatest Wolfpack player of the 1960 decade. What I like so much about Eddie was he was a hustle player. After his junior year he sat out a year when he had back surgery and had a chance to go pro or come back and play his senior year. He played for the Wolfpack.

Eddie had the honor of being the only player in N C State history to play for Everett Case, Press Maravich and Norm Sloan. He played one year in the pros before turning to coaching. Biedenbach was the greatest recruiter in the history of N C State basketball as he was directly responsible for David Thompson, Tommy Burleson and Monte Towe as well as Thurl Bailey, Sidney Lowe And Derrick Whittenburg coming to Raleigh.

Duke will start their defense of their National Championship at 3.00pm Friday on tru while Carolina gets CBS and Channel 5 at 7.15 Friday night. They both get Charlotte over the weekend and I doubt either lose this weekend.

I saw looking over the Carolina baseball stats that Hobbs Johnson made his college debut last weekend when Carolina hosted Stoney Brook. Hobbs pitched one inning and struck out two batters and allowed one hit. A good start to his career. Carolina lost two of three this weekend to Wake but stand 14-3 overall so far in baseball.

Gryphon softball lost again today 12-1.

The run to the Michigan basketball state title is over for Fenville High. Fenville is the team that their star player die on the court just ten days ago or so. Fenville won their district last week winning three times but tonight they were crushed in the regional. As the teams shook hands after the game all the fans there gave the Fenville players a standing ovation including the clock operator and everyone on press row.
