L O B

There is a stat in baseball that can tell a lot about the final score and it is the lob or men left on base.  Tonight was the opening game in Big East baseball and Rocky Mount and Nash Central decided to play ten innings before Rocky Mount scored a run in the top of the tenth only to find Nash Central scoring two in the bottom to win 5-4.

Rocky Mount got eight hits the first seven inning but could never get one when they needed it and left the bases loaded three times and left seven on base the other four innings only to score three runs.  Zach Patterson  started on the Mound for the Bulldogs.  He pitched seven innings striking out 10 Gryphons but it took a error by Rocky Mount in the seventh to tie the game at three.

David Harrison tossed for Rocky Mount the first six innings and he finally pitched the way he pitched last year.  He allowed three hits and struck out 11.  Wesley Drake was the losing pitcher in the 10th when Nash Central score two runs in the inning without  a hit in fact the winning run scored on a wild pitch .  Drake's four innings in relief he allowed two hits and struck out four.

Noah Schrock pitched the last three innings for the Bulldogs giving up two hits and striking out six and was the winning pitcher.  Three Gryphons got three hits Jake Philbeck, David Harrison and Will Hedgepeth.  Josh Pittman got the only other Gryphon hit.  Colby Carter had a two hit night for Nash Central.  Noah Schrock, Tyler Sherrod and John Michael Kelly collected hits.

Both teams play Thursday because of Good Friday.  Rocky Mount is at Hunt and Nash Central at Fike.

Other Big East Action:

A shocker Southern Nash 5 Fike 4
Northern Nash 2. Hunt 1

So there you see as the first three conference games of the year all are one run games.
