Error Prone

Injuries can keep teams from ever reaching their potential..  Tuesday night during warm ups for Rocky Mount starting shortstop Logan Pearce had a ball hit him while throwing and catching on the tip of one of his fingers.  The result the Gryphons had to shuffle their infield.  Pearce was the DH but for the first time in his high school career he failed to get a hit in a game.

Tonight at Hunt Pat Smith needing to use his number three pitcher at shortstop had to use plan B and put catcher Zach Keeter on the mound.  The Gryphons are in need of someone to step forward to be another go to pitcher.  Keeter gives the Gryphons all you could ask for on the mound as he led 4-3 through five innings.

Wesley Drake pitches the last two innings but for the third time in eight days the Gryphons give up the lead late in the game and the defense is the culprit.  The Gryphons fall to 0-2 after a 5-4  loss to Hunt.

Other Big East Scores:

Fike 3 Nash Central 1 both teams now 1-1
Southern Nash 14 Northern Nash 10 The Firebirds are 2-0 and in the lead in the Big East.

Going into Thursday night's West Regional game against Oregon Duke's Coach K was 0-4 all time in the west Regional.  It is now 0-5 as Duke played as if they were in a different time zone as all night long they were at least a step slow.  Was it because Oregon was that fast or is there something to his time zone stuff.  Oregon defense was better than Duke's offense. Duke rebounding was awful as many times Oregon got rebounds after the ball hit the floor.

Not a good night at all for the ACC as Miami lost badly to Villanova 92-69 and Duke loses 82-68.  It seems like the beating was worse than 14.  The ACC has four games tonight including Carolina around 10 pm.
