Northern Nash girls basketball player Alexus Hill will be playing in the East West All Star basketball game in the Greensboro Coliseum on July 21st. Hill along with Dante Battle of Rocky Mount was the player of the year in the Big East in Girls while Battle was the boys.
The girls game will be played Monday July 21 at 6:30 and the boys game will follow. Hill who is headed to Gardner Webb to play basketball is the only Big East girls player on the east squad while Battle is the only local boy.
The second round of the state playoffs are all set. Baseball Northern Nash will host Southern Lee at 1pm Saturday. Fike will travel to Topsail for a Friday night invite at 7pm. Hunt will host Southern Wayne at 7pmSaturday night.
The softball second round will have Fike at Swansboro Friday night at 6pm. Hunt will make the long trip to Brunswick County to West Brunswick for a 7pm first pitch while Southern Nash host West Careret 7pm Saturday night.
The last two soccer teams left Hunt and Fike play on separate days. Fike will host White Oak at 6pm Friday while Hunt is on the road Saturday as they travel to Union Pines.
The academic progress reports are out and App State has been banned from participating in next years NCAA basketball tournament because they have fallen behind the level of academic expectations. On the Home front both State and Carolina were closer to the fail line than any improvement from the previous year.
The state 3A state championships in track and field start Friday and for those who advance will continue into Saturday.
