ACC Basketball Top Heavy

Wake Forest has already lost at home to a no- name, Georgia Tech lost last night to Kennesaw State. The world of college basketball is no more let's open up the season with a patsy and win 115-62. Those patsies are now good enough to hold their own against any team in the country.

Duke starts the season ranked #1 and the defending National Champions. They have the best coach in the country, sorry Carolina but Coach K is better than Roy. Duke seems to have added to their roster right where they needed to which should keep them in the top five all year even after they lose a conference game or two.

Carolina fans are expecting to be right back up in the national championship talk this season but their main problem last year was point guard. Have they improved in point guard play to win the close games that are coming? Opening night was a 14 point win but no blowout that Tar Heel fans wanted. They were out rebounded in the scrimmage game and again opening night.

Like Carolina, State didn't play a laugher opening night like they wanted. The past couple of years they have been awful at point guard but if they improved at all over last year it is the PG. The Wolfpack's biggest question will all these freshman get along with the upper classman and not be like a couple of years ago when there was tension in the locker room.

Virginia Tech didn't lose that much from last year and is picked top four in the league. They could easily be the team that wins the ACC.

It is funny that we in ACC country feel that we are the best in basketball and it has been that way from day one when Everett Case brought his style to Raleigh. As good as we thought it was we only won a national championship every now and then. The past ten national champions five have been owned by the ACC. The ACC is better than ever in college basketball. They are at least at the top of the league maybe not towards the bottom.

Marc McCadden former Northern Nash star was named to the all CIAA all Rookie team. The freshman at Chowan (UCLA) University of Chowan located near Ahoskie. Old joke from my days living there has had an outstanding year on the football field.
