Battle To Play In East West Allstar Game

Rocky Mount High School senior basketball  player Dante Battle has been named to the east roster for the up and coming East West All star game on July 21st in the Greensboro Coliseum.  The basketball all star game is part of the NC Coaches Association meeting during the July 20th week.

Northern Nash knows now who they play in round two of the state baseball playoffs.  Tonight Southern Lee beat West Craven at West Craven 7-4.  According the NCHSAA website round two games are suppose to start Saturday.  We will try to keep up with when the game will be played.

What a great opening night for the Big East in both Baseball and softball.  We have already told you last night about baseball but softball was just as good.   Southern Nash beat 8-0 South Brunswick.  Hunt was a 3-1 winner over Southern Wayne and Fike made it a clean sweep beating Cedar Ridge 5-3.

Got to send out a well done to SouthWest Edgecombe golfer Cole Jeffery's.  Jeffery's won the 2-A state championship in golf shooting a 69-68 two day total and won the indivual title by three shots.

Tonight the Big East girls began play in the state soccer tournament and none had a worse draw than Northern Nash having to travel to Chapel Hill to play the once beaten team.  Chapel Hill wins 9-0.

Fike had no trouble  with their first game beating Richlands 10-1.  Rocky Mount traveled to Triton and Lost 3-2 on a late goal.  Hunt won over Western Alamance 2-1.  Big East Soccer goes 2-2  and when combined with all other spring sports have started with a 10-2 record  after the opening round of all three sports baseball, softball and soccer.  When you combined the success of fall and winter sports you would have to say the Big East has had a super sports year and just how good it will finish up is still to be determined.
