Lady Knight s Advance In Regional

Four bus loads of fans and a lot more made the trip down I-95 tonight as the Lady Knights of Northern Nash have advanced to the East Regional final Saturday night beating Union Pines 49-47. Northern Lead 34-22 at the half and UP made a charge at the end draining threes but Union Pines never lead in the second half.

The Lady Knights had equally distributed scoring as all had a major part in their fourth win so far this playoff season. Northern will a wait for the winner of the second game in Fayetteville's Crown Arena and will play them at 6.00pm Saturday night.

Grover Battle and the Lady Knights are spending the night in Fayetteville instead of driving back home and returning tomorrow.

Big East sports continues to qualify teams for the Eastern finals. Hunt made it in football. The Big East had a team in boys soccer finals and now the Lady Knights get the Big East basketball team in a Eastern Final for the second year in a row.

It was a short ride to Norfolk Virginia for the opening round of the NCAA Division III basketball playoffs for the Battling Bishops of NCW. The ride home will be no where near as short.

Franklin and Marshall broke open a back and forth game at the six minute mark in the second half to pull away from the Bishops 69-56. The Bishops had taken the lead at 48-46 with 6.24 to play but were outscored the last six minutes 23-8.

Georgio Milligan lead F&M scoring 22 and he was followed by Hayk Gyokchyan(glad I wasn't calling that game) with 18. Domarius Thomas lead the Bishops with 18 while Matt Dougherty pitched in ten. The Bishops finish up the season 22-7.

Rocky Mount baseball put two freshman on the mound today in Sam Lilley and Andy Morris as the Gryphons looked for arms to aid Benton Moss. The Gryphons were able to outscore SouthWest Edgecombe 10-8.
