Revenge

The Lady Gryphons played South Central two very close games during the regular season last year but in the end they lost both games.  Then in the sectional finals playing South Central for a third time South Central wiped up the floor with the Lady Gryphons winning by 20.  Tonight in Winterville the Lady Gryphons extracted some revenge with a two point win at their place.

The boys won two close games with the Falcons last year but  in the Regional in Fayetteville the Falcons edged the Gryphons to move on in the playoffs while Rocky Mount has a long ride home.  Tonight the Gryphons got back on the winning ways taking down South Central.

Got home from the Tar River Children's Chorus Christmas Concert just in time to see the second half of the UCLA -Carolina NCAA Semi Final soccer  match in which Carolina won just after midnight on Penalty kicks 3-1.  They will play Charlotte who beat Creighton in the first Semi  4-1 on penalty kicks.  So the National Championship of college soccer will reside in the State of North Carolina about 6pm Sunday
either going home to the 49er's or to the Tar Heels.

I am sure after what has gone on in Chapel Hill since the firing of Butch Davis within sight of this football season there are those who cheer for the Carolina Blue that are still upset that Davis has gone.  I truly believe Carolina has a coach that could actually get the Tar Heels back into the Top Ten on a semi regular basis.  Larry Fedora is a good hire.

There has been a lot of talk about why the top athletes in North Carolina keep going and playing at other schools.  Yes there are those that say the coaches here don't recruit well enough to keep our top studs.  There is one other reason that people forget.  You know some of these guys may not qualify to get into  State or Carolina.  I think it is rather obvious that the Southeastern Conference  has been known to cheat every now and then so why do you think they get so many studs.  In some cases they will accept anybody some way some how where as the ACC has a much higher standard in who they will take.  It might not always be the coaches fault.

The NBA has just gone through 150 day  lock out and right out if the chute the glamour team the Lakers connives into getting the best guard in the league  to come to play for them.  All of the small market teams hollered wait a minute what in the world did we lockout for 150 days if we are going to go back and have the same old same old.

The owners especially the small markets and the NBA has a lot more small market teams than the NFL negotiated to get a bigger share of the revenue,  But if LA and Boston and New York keep getting all the big name players then what have they wasted 150 days for?
