Monday Morning QB

I don't know about you but if Wake Forest doesn't give Jim Grobe a lifetime job they are crazy.  He finds a way to make his team competitive every week.

There is something about Forsyth County that State just can't play in.  That's five straight trips that the Deacs have beaten the Pack in Winston.   You can say all you want but Mike Glennon showed he can quarterback he needs receivers to stay on their feet.

The Tar Heels have two wins and I don't know yet whether I can tell you anything about the Heels yet.  Did you notice there was a lot of empty seats yesterday compare to the home opener.

ECU played well but just came up short.  Seems that they can't get the offense and defense to play together the same game.

The Futures tour had their Tour Championship this Week in Muddy Albany N Y.  Cousin Lauren shot 71,72, 68 to finish 17th.  She finished 29th on tour for the year after last year finishing 95th on her first full year on the tour.  If she jumps as much next year she just might hit top ten and win her LPGA tour card.

Former Rocky Mount Gryphon Keith Strickland caught a touchdown pass on his old stomping ground Gryphon Stadium in Elizabeth City States big win in the Down East Classic.

Former Gryphon Senior red shirt  left tackle Kendall Noble help lead Norfolk State to a   lead over West Virginia in the first half Saturday in Morgantown West Virginia.  Unfortunately for Kendall and NSU West Virginia decided to come back and play the second half and scorched the Spartans for 52 points.

Last Tuesday night at Northwest Halifax and Weldon played the Labor day weekend game since it had been rained out that Friday. Northwest Halifax leading 26-0 in the second quarter when a shoving match turn into both benches clearing.  When everything was settled six  players on one team and five on the other had been tossed out.  The coaches not the refs  decided to stop the game   with Northwest Halifax winning an going to 3-0.  Friday the NCHSAA kicked both teams out of this years playoffs as no team can be eligible for the  playoff if they have at least three players fighting for the  entire year.

Have you heard this.  The Fike game with Northside Jacksonville had to be moved to Jacksonville because Hurricane Irene damaged the light poles at Fike.  The poles were deemed dangerous and the field  cannot even have a day game until all the poles are taken down and replaced because they might fall.  Musco Lighting from Iowa has been to Wilson and hopes to have new light in two to three weeks.

Finally from what I have seen so far you had better be ready to play Rocky Mount. I don't think they can win the conference but they sure could keep somebody else from winning it.  M J Gainey who has been sick the last couple of weeks  caught two touchdown passes and the offense just runs smoother when he's blocking and catching touchdowns.
