Macklin's Swat Smacks Northern

Khalil Macklin's three run home run  in the eighth inning powered the Bulldogs of Nash Central to a 7-4 extra inning win over the Knights of Northern Nash. The homer was Macklins only hit of the game but it proved to be the game winner.

It didn't look as if the Bulldogs would make it to extra innings as Madison Mayo lead off the Knight bottom of the seventh inning with a double but Northern failed to get the winning run home before the third out.

Northern took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Steve  William's  home run in the first.  The 1-0 lead faded when Nash Central scored three runs in the third two coming off the bat of Jordan Taylor who double in two runs and score on the next hit by Dillon Moore.

Northern would tie up the game on a rbi single by Fuller Weatherly and a double by Steve Williams. Nash Central scored an unearn run to regain the lead only to see Northern tie it right back up at 4-4.

Nash Central goes to 1-1 in Big East while Northern falls to 1-2.  Nash Central plays Hunt while Northern plays Fike Thursday.

Thomas Berry hit a grand slam in the first inning which gave Benton Moss a 4-0 lead when he went to the mound at Fike tonight but the Gryphons kept adding to the total and win at 10-0.  Moss gets victory #28 which ties him for the all time wins record at Rocky Mount at 28.

Rocky Mount is home to Southern Nash Thursday night.  Rocky Mount is now 2-1 in conference play while Fike falls to 1-1.

Hunt won in six innings over Southern Nash  11-1.  Now everyone in the league has played at least two games and Hunt is  the only unbeaten at 3-0.  Rocky Mount is 2-1.  Nash Central and Fike are 1-1.  Northern Nash is 1-2 and Southern Nash finds themselves 0-3.

Hunt will try to run off and hide from everyone if they can beat Nash Central on Thursday.  They could be 4-0 having played everyone once except Fike.   Rocky Mount will throw the entire pitching staff at Southern if needed and  Northern Needs a win badly when they play Fike Thursday.

The Carolina Hurricanes shut out Chicago Blackhawks tonight to stay alive for a playoff spot.  They have two games left and need to win both and hope for help.

Now that we all have had time to digest the new Coach announcement at N C State think about this.  Mark Gottfried trails on Coach K, Roy Williams and Gary Williams in percentage of years coaching and the number of trips to the NCAA Tournament.  He has been a D-1 coach for 14 seasons and been in the NCAA seven times.  That's better than any other ACC coach other than the big three.
