The Wolfpack of N C State loves playing ACC Tournament Baseball in the DBAP. They love it some much they like prime time and extra innings. Friday night the Pack walks 11 Miami Hurricanes but they hold the Canes to only 6 hits and score in the bottom of the ninth to force the winner take all game into three extra innings. Pack pitchers were so wild that they had Miami Hitters light on their feet in the batters box and got 17 strikeouts.
Preston Palmeiro double off the wall on the second pitch of the bottom of the 12th on the throw to second the left fielder threw the ball about ten yards into right field and the ball rolled all the way to the right field stands and on the throw home the catcher failed to catch the ball and his swipe tag which tagged Palmeiro but the ball laid in from of home plate for a 5-4 Wolfpack win. If this was little league the batter would say he had an inside the park home run .
The Pack plays Virginia Tonight at 7pm in a meaningless game because they play in Sunday's championship game against the winner of Florida State and Louisville at 11am. What would you do? I'm pitching my Wednesday starter to save my Sunday pitcher to pitch the championship game. FSU and Louisville must win Saturday in order to play Sunday so they don't have the luxury of saving a starter.
Carolina got their lone win over Clemson To go 2-2 in the tournament. They are 25th in RPI. State beating the number one in the RPI jumps to 26 and ECU with the day off stays at 31. ECU and Houston are playing in their brackets Saturday undefeated in the American Athletic conference. ECU plays at 1pm and then again at 7 if they lose the 1pm game. If both Houston wins their bracket with ECU they play Sunday for the title.
Fike failed to scored in round four of the 3-A playoffs. They needed many losing 10-0 to CB Aycock.
