Instant Classic

I will have to go back to my personal archives and review what I consider my top ten all time games behind the mic. Tonight doing the High School game of the week on WHIG-TV Northern Nash and Nash Central go three overtimes before Northern intercepts a two point conversion to win the game by 43-42 score.

From the opening kickoff that Tavis Richardson went 92 yards with for a touchdown until the last play of overtime this was a weird one. Northern fumbled away points on the Bulldog eight yard line. Then with 52 seconds to play in regulation snapped the ball over the punters head to give Nash Central the ball inside the ten to win the game and the best they can do is miss a 33 yard field goal.

Overtime Nash Central scored a touchdown to only miss the extra point, then with their turn Northern scores and Nash Central blocks the extra point to keep the Knights from winning in the second overtime.

I have no fault at all with coach Crudup decision to go for the win. I would rather the coach look at his players and say we lost because of me over a player missing and extra point or someone fumbling the ball. What a game and you can see it on WHIG-TV Sunday night at 9.00pm.

Rocky Mount did something they have not done all season scored twice in the second half after being shutout in the first half. Fike lead 7-0 but Rocky Mount shut the Golden Demons out in the second half and put two scores on the boards and beat Fike 14-7.

I told you in my picks last night that the trend was the home team and don't ask me why I picked Hunt but the Firebirds shutout Hunt 17-0. As predicted in preseason there will be no undefeated team in the Big East in Conference play as both Nash Central and Hunt lost for the first time. What has happened to Hunt who could score only 14 last week against Rocky Mount and none tonight?

Two weeks to go in the season and there is a four way tie a top of the Big East, Hunt, Nash Central, Southern Nash and Northern Nash are all 2-1. Rocky Mount is 1-2 and Fike 0-3. Flip a coin you have just as good of a chance to guessing right who's going to win this league.

The Edgecombe battle for bragging rights Tarboro who I don't think has beaten SouthWest Edgecombe since Raymond Cobb has been at SWE beat the Cougars tonight 32-16. Tarboro has taken on the biggest rivals in league play and won them all.

Lady Gryphons Volleyball first round playoff game is 2.00pm Saturday in the gym.
