All Star Results

I don't know a lot about the NC/SC all star baseball classic but here is what I know.

Rain forced the Thursday night game to be stopped in the sixth inning with the Sandlappers leading 8-3. The game which was played at Coastal Carolina, however the game was finished in Myrtle Beach on Friday at 2.00pm and no further scoring occurred and the final was 8-3.

The second game in the series was played at the conclusion of the first game and the results are better for the Tar Heels as they are lead by Eastern Wayne's John Wooten who goes 2-4 and drives in three runs as the stars from North Carolina win game two 9-2.

Nash Counties three players in both game Tyler Joyner, Ben Fish and Brian Goodwin returned home in order to graduate today from high school.

The Tar River Children's Chorus sang the National Anthem at the Mudcats game Friday night so you know where I was. Mudcats had a no- hitter going into the 7th inning but they won 4-0. Afterwards was fireworks night and I hope the 4th Of July fireworks at the sports complex by the city of Rocky Mount will be half as good as these were.

To my surprise the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup in Detroit last night 2-1. I was pulling for the Pens but I really thought Detroit would win last night.

The University of Virginia plays in their first ever college world series game tonight against LSU. I think most experts favor LSU to win the world series.

Carolina begins at 2.00pm Sunday against Arizona State.

Coleman Pitt Post 58 plays their first home game of the season Sunday afternoon at Bauer field at NC Wesleyan College. The senior legion team is off to a 1-1 record so far this season. I'll be doing the PA. Come on out
