Soccer To Play At Sports Complex

The Rocky Mount boys soccer team will play for the first time ever at the new soccer complex across the street from the football stadium Wednesday night at 6.00pm. This is the first round of the playoffs and C B Aycock brings in a second place team from their conference.

This fall is the first time any one has used the soccer fields so if you have not been there yet, you drive into the parking area at the entrance of the complex. There is a service road which cuts between the little league fields and and the concession stands that leads you to a parking lot by the soccer fields.

The JV football game has been moved to Wednesday night against Northern Nash. It is the last home game of the season for the JV's. I will be doing PA for the JV game so we hope to be able to feed the soccer score while the JV's are playing.

There will not be a problem after all. The NCHSAA released the list of schools today and their attendence figures and it looks as if Rocky Mount will be in the 3AA this year. The last two years we have been border line but not this year. The half way point Rocky Mount is fourteen positions higher than halfway. It looks like every member of our conference will be 3-AA.

This week my cousin Lauren Doughtie is playing in a Futures tour qualifying tournament in Winter Haven Florida. It is a five round affair and after two rounds she stands 22nd in the field. She needs to make the top eleven to make it back on the Futures tour again next year.

She has qualified to try out for the LPGA qualifying tournament and that comes up in three weeks. So far she has shot 71-73 and is eight shots out of first. The tournament is played on four different courses and Friday if you are still around the remaining players will play one of the courses for the second time in the week.

Fike defeated the Lady Gryphon Tennis team today 5-1. This ends a solid season for the Lady Gryphon Tennis team.
