MNF Love Fest

Last week the crew of Monday Night football tripped all over themselves in naming Michael Vick the MVP of the NFL. Another week an another candidate as Philip Rivers was in full view of the MNF TV crew and I thought by 11.45pm that it was the Philip Rivers slobber fest as John Gruden and company were tripping all over themselves for Philip Rivers. As much of a fan as I am of Philip Rivers I was glad when the game ended.

Duke struggled with Marquette in basketball last night but they still were winners and will play for the tournament championship in what ever tournament they are in. Does every corporation have a college basketball tournament going on this year?

The high school basketball season starts tonight as Rocky Mount host Rose. Regrardless of what sport it is Rose is a good measuring stick on how good or bad a Gryphon team will be. If you can beat Rose in any sport you have a chance to be really good. A close loss is not bad at all when playing the Rampants.

I will be at Faith Christian tonight taping basketball for Stretchlon. They will be our first basketball game of the year and you can count on many more between now and March.

Due to his job responsibilities Wes Bradshaw has been absent from behind the mic this fall but I hear you will be able to hear Wes Friday Night as he will be helping Bob Maloney on the Jammin 99 coverage of the Tarboro-East Duplin football game. Welcome back Wes!

The lone Nash County school still playing football is the Knights of Northern Nash. They will be holding football practice on Thanksgiving Day for the First time in many years. I enjoy that Friday night after Thanksgiving more than any other game all year. To me that is the sign that you have had a great year regardless of the outcome the rest of the way.

I don't know whether you heard about this or not but Roman Kelly former Gryphon quarterback and now the head coach of South Brunswick may have to forfeit their upcoming third round playoff game with Havelock after three Sb players were tossed out of their second round game for fighting. According to NCHSAA rules a team must forfeit their next game if they lose three players for fighting the previous week. This will be interesting to see what happens especially after the Terry Sanford fiasco last year that ended in court after the NCHSAA rule Sanford out of the playoffs.
