It is only December and we are still thirty games away from a national champion but you have to give it to Duke. They have already played more top ten and top twenty teams in the early season than most will play all year and have won them all.
They have changed the style of play from their point guard over last year now running and gunning. The rest of their player are suited for that style but they have the players who are just as capable of playing a half court game.
Isn't it funny but when the ball goes in the hole it gives everyone a different attitude about their play. Carolina got inside play yesterday in their victory over Kentucky. They still didn't make a basket the last 6.18 of the game. The good news there was Kentucky went nine minutes with our a bucket. They finally made one with 12 seconds left.
State came back from their embarrassment to Wisconsin and play about as well as they are coached. Down 61-59 Lowe called a time out with thirty two seconds on the time clock and after the time out the ball never crossed the three point line and State took a thirty five foot heave as the clock was running out. Nice play!
The season will progress and hopefully for Carolina their guard play will improve to where they figure out how to keep getting the ball inside. As for State I think yesterday this team is better with the freshman coming off the bench.
The ACC football champions are the Cobblers of Virginia Tech. It was a very entertaining game with Tech winning over Florida State 44-33. Now today the pieces will start falling into place about everyone's bowl games.
The Rocky Mount Gryphons have three nights of home games this week. It starts Tuesday. You know the Nash County Christmas tournament is in Rocky Mount this year and it is before Christmas. It is becoming a three day event. The first night the 20th will feature three games, the 21st two games and the 22nd will have three games. We will see how that works.
An invitation will go out Monday morning to Jeff Craddock and the Tarboro Vikings to join me next Sunday night live after their State Championship football game next Saturday on the "Stretchlon Sports Show". Seems as if this is becoming an annual event.
Tonight's show will feature Pam Gainey winning #300 Friday night.
