Lady Knight/Gryphons Play For title

The Lady Knights of Northern Nash did what they had to do tonight in order to play Rocky Mount on Friday at Rocky Mount for the Big East Championship. They needed to beat the Lady Bulldogs of Nash Central and they did it 60-48. If the Lady Knights had of stumbled then Rocky Mount would have been the conference's regular season champions without having to win Friday night's game.

Rocky Mount heads into the Titanic clash 9-0 while Northern's only loss was the 51-47 heart breaker in which Rocky Mount beat them at Northern after the Lady Knights had lead by 11 in the second half. Tip off is set for 6.00pm at the Gryphon gym. We are hopeful that we will be able to tape that for the Stretchlon Sports Show.

Northern Nash's boys team lead by the Freeman Brothers Deshawn 28 and Darius 20 points smacked Nash Central for the second time in five days whipping the Bulldogs 66-55 at the Dog Pound. This sets up Rocky Mount and Northern boys playing for second place Friday night at Rocky Mount.

Rocky Mount heads into the game 6-3 while Northern is tied with Nash Central at 5-4. Should Northern Beat Rocky Mount in the regular season finale Northern would have be tied for second but the tied breaker would be Northern winning the Christmas Tournament championship game over Rocky Mount

North Carolina Wesleyan College lost their first baseball game of the season this afternoon as former Gryphon Chad Womble took the hill for the Bishops. Through four innings the Bishops lead 2-1 but in the fifth Womble walked the first three batters of the inning and they came home to score as Lynchburg College beat NCW 4-2.

Wes and I will be At RMA Thursday night covering the Faith-RMA boys and girls basketball games for the Stetchlon Sports show. You can count on basketball for the next several weeks every Sunday night for a while.
