Gryphons Beat Rain-Wildcats

Rocky Mount spotted the Bunn Wildcat three runs in the top of the first inning but win in five innings 16-3. Afraid of the incoming rain the game started at 12.30 and being a five inning affair other than a cloudy cool day every thing was good for the Gryphons.

Spenser Ramsey got the start and pitched the first two innings. He gave up four hits and three runs but his pitching was not that bad. He got what should have been the second out of the inning on a strikeout in the dirt but the runner on second took off for third and Collin Watson threw to third where the runner was safe and the strike out victim was on first. One ground ball made it to the outfield otherwise Ramsey kept the ball in the infield despite giving up three runs.

Andy Morris Came in to pitch the top of the third and got the first eight batters he faced out and the Gryphons only error of the game prevented him from being perfect with five strike outs. Morris gets the win pitching the final three innings even though the Gryphons were ahead 14-3 when he took the hill.

Jeremy Johnson collect three hits, along with the Berry Twins Matt and Thomas getting two hits each and so did Andy Morris. Spenser Ramsey,Taylor Clontz and Collin Watson each got a hit.

The rbi parade was led by Matt Berry with four , three each for Spenser Ramsey and Andy Morris. Thomas Berry collect two and Jeremy Johnson one.

The Gryphons start conference play Tuesday night hosting Nash Central. They will head in with a six game winning streak and a 8-3 record.

My Cousin Lauren Doughtie has started her second full season on the Futures Golf Tour this week. Their first event is in Winter Haven Florida. Friday's opening round she shot a 74 while today she managed an even par 72. 146 is right on the cut line so she gets to play Sunday and cash a check. Last year she had more missed cuts than checks so this gives her a better start than last. I would really like to see her shoot 70 or better tomorrow and move up to something like top twenty. Last year when in the same position she would shoot 76 and get a check of $258. That will not even pay her gas bill theses days.
