Gryphons Win At Impact

Kent Cox has one Thoroughbred arm in his Gryphon stable of pitchers in Benton Moss. Cox has done everything possible to make sure that he protects Moss from injury until the conference games start. He has put his star pitcher on a 60 pitch count in every outing so far. Today Moss pitches two and two thirds innings before his pitch count ran out and that left the four and one third innings to go to the want-a-be pitchers for Rocky Mount.

Cox went to Jeremy Johnson and the sophomore lefty did all that could have been asked of him as he lead the Gryphons to a 2-1 win over Forsyth Country Day. The win is only the third of the season for the Gryphons who even their record at 3-3.

The Gryphons have three games next week traveling to SouthWest Edgecombe Tuesday then hosting Riverside High School Wednesday in an Endowment game and Rose on Thursday.

Sunday night on the "Stretchlon Sports Show" we will be having a wrestling wrap up show featuring the coaches from Nash Central, Rocky Mount and Northern Nash as well as each teams top finisher in the State Wrestling tournament which was held just a couple of weeks ago.

Paul Hewitt has been fired today as the head basketball coach at Georgia Tech. Hewitt is not going to cry for long as the Techsters have to pay Hewitt 7 million to get rid of him.

Carolina has pulled another Harry Houdini act today and has beaten Clemson in the ACC semi's 92-87 in overtime. Duke Beats Virginia Tech setting up a Duke-Carolina ACC final Sunday afternoon.

They had to beat both Rocky Mount and Northern Nash to get there but South Central girls won the 3-A Girls State title beating Hickory 61-58. The South Central boys lost 63-62 to Gastonia Hunter Huss 63-62.
