Thomas Berry had a two run double in the third and brother Matt had a two run hit in the fifth that help lead Rocky Mount to a Get even win with Greenville Rose as the Gryphons beat the Rampants 5-0 after the Rampants had shut out Rocky Mount on opening day in Greenville 5-0.
One of the Big questions for this young Gryphon
Early on this season the young infielders were making errors and now with nine games under their belt the defense is rounding into shape. Today with Spencer Ramsey out from his hurt hand freshman Andy Morris took over at short stop and filled in nicely. There is great news on Spencer's hand. X-rays show only a deep bruise that he received yesterday when hit on the hand by a Riverside fastball. Once the Gryphons left Riverside yesterday they were afraid that he had broken his hand but should now be back next week.
Gryphon finish up a great week with three wins and the icing on the cake that they take down Rose 5-0.
Terrell Hudgins pro football career started Monday night for the Chicago Rage Arena Football
We will once again tonight take about three of our local college players and how their year is going. Today at the Gryphon game I spoke with Johnnie Ramsay and asked him about Cameron and how he was doing at Wake Tech. I had seen on the Wake website that Cameron had pitched in a game way back in February and won the game but I had not seen anything on him since. There is a good reason. In that game while delivery a pitch Cameron pop the tendons in his elbow and he has to under go Tommy John Surgery in May. In his first college game as a pitcher he gets a victory and a season ending injury.
I don't want to leave out our girls playing college softball. Ashley Bone Nash Central's ace pitcher last year now at freshman at Carolina has appeared twice at bat and is 0-2 and also made five appearances for the 16-10 Tar Heel Softball
Andrew Webb Northern Nash Product is 2-3 so far this year at N C Wesleyan. He has pitched better than his record.
