Since the Prom is Friday night at Rocky Mount High School and the State playoff schedule says round three is Friday North Lenoir and Rocky Mount have to agree when their game will play. North Lenoir did not want Saturday and Rocky Mount was against playing Thursday so the only thing left is 6.00pm Friday and then the players can go to the Prom.
There are major problems waiting to Saturday with the weather. If you get rained out then you must play Monday and turn around Tuesday and play the fourth round for the winner. If I am the coach I would rather play Thursday over waiting to Saturday but Friday works for me since I'm not going to the Prom. Then remember if you are fortunate enough to make it to the East Finals the 2 out of three starts next Thurdays May 26 and then there could be a five game week next week. You surely don't want to get rained out Saturday.
The Big East girls softball teams had a big night in the opening round of the playoffs. All three that played won big.
The #1 Seed Hunt won 11-0 over West Carteret. #2 Seed Nash Central won their first playoff game ever in beating Hertford County 27-0. You might remember that the boys had won their first playoff game in baseball last week and the girls get theirs. Southern Nash the #4 seed won by a 13-1 score against #1seed Currituck. The three teams that played last night won by a combined 51-1.
Northern Nash the #3 seed plays their opening playoff game tonight at South Central. We all know that South Central has replaced Rose as the Greenville powerhouse in sports. Their girls track won the state title last week and girls basketball won the title in March. Northern will have their hands full at Winterville.
The last surviving team in tennis Fike lost in the third round yesterday to eliminate all the Big East teams in Boys Tennis Rocky Mount is the last boys team in any sport left while all four softball teams are still alive.
Way to go Faith Christian they advance to the third round in baseball. The State finals are at Fleming Stadium in Wilson.
