Ten Games To Go

A normal Big East baseball season consist of thirty games giving  two teams a total of thirty victories and thirty defeats.  Thursday is suppose to be the last day of the regular season when three games should wrap up the regular season.  Starting Tuesday there are still ten games to play which is 1/3 of the conference season is still left.

Only three games are possible Tuesday and three again on Thursday so that leaves four  more that need to be played by Saturday. Because three teams can't play each other at the same time two games will spill over to Monday.  The entire season in Big East Baseball could be upside down by the end of all games Monday May ninth assuming there are no rain outs that continue the season to next Tuesday.

What a mess Nash County being out of school the week before Easter and Wilson County the week after.  Not only is Nash and Wilson fighting over chickens but they don't even talk to each other when making school schedules.

Lady Gryphon softball has not played in two weeks and it showed tonight as Hunt wins 15-0 in three innings.

The One Voice Talent show that was postponed last Thursday due to school getting out early because of the severe weather has been moved to Friday the 13th.

The Big East girls soccer tournament started tonight with the semi finals Tuesday.  The two winners Tuesday  play for the title Thursday.

Russell Wilson has responded as if he is in shock that Tom O'Brien will not let him return to play football next fall after he spends his second summer playing baseball.  I am losing a lot of respect for Wilson now that he is showing that he is for himself and not for the team.

I don't blame O'Brien at all for telling Wilson it is either football or baseball but not both.  What is he suppose to do with Mike Glennon.  Tell him you can be the starter next year for your senior year after he has spent four years as backup to Wilson and has not said one word  when Wilson shows up in August  to take over after not being in spring practice but on the baseball field.

If Glennon flops everyone is going to say boy how dumb can the coach be, but in the long run O'Brien is thinking of the well being not only of this year's team but next year as well.  I hope Glennon does well just because he has been a team player.

If TOB is going to preach "team first", that went out the window last year, when he allowed Wilson to be the QB after not playing/practicing during the spring. It's interesting that Glennon wasnt the starter last year, in a year that was a MUST WIN for TOB). Interesting, that he allowed Wilson to miss out on all those practices, but somehow only now it's a problem (funny how getting a contract extension changes a coach's viewpoint). TOB knew he would only be successful with Wilson based on the team personnel for the 2010 season, as Glennon was no where ready to take over and make it through a season behind that o-line.

But you know why he is able to do this? Because Wilson helped lead that team to a near record winning season at NCSU. So because of a Wilson led team, TOB can have some lee-way to "call the shots". TOB just doubled the pressure on Mike Glennnon, so for this to be the "right" decision in the public's view, he better succeed.

So let's call a spade a spade, and
clearly some blame falls at TOB's feet as well. It's just an unfortunate situation, but TOB is not scott free in this situation.
