Game One Goes To Post 58

I promised you that  I would post right after the Legion game Sunday night and give you all the details and as it turns out a victory for Post 58 over New Bern Post 24.  You see while waiting to leave New Bern just a few minutes ago Post 24 did not have enough players to field a team and they have forfeited tonight's game.

This puts Monday night's game in jeopardy for if they can't get enough players on the 3rd of July to show up can they expect to have a team for Monday night.  Joe Bell the Athletic officer of Coleman Pitt Post 58 has requested from New Bern if they can play that Monday night's game needs to be in Rocky Mount not in New Bern since Post 58 has been cut out of any gate receipts.

We would hope there would be more people for each additional game in the playoffs as the excitement builds leading up to what ever level this team can achieve this playoff season.  Umpires are not free and the facility has a maintenance fee for the use.  Playoff games have the opportunity to pay for themselves  so Joe would like to get at least one home game in the opening round.

Should New Bern also forfeit Monday's game that will send Post 58 into the second round to meet the winner of the Wayne County/Edenton series which starts tonight in Wayne County.  The only bad thing I can think of that would not be good getting on the ball field and playing against someone tonight, Monday and Tuesday is that will give Post 58 ten days off since their  last action and there will be some rust from not playing and rust is not good when you will go up against a team that has just played a tough series.

The second round is scheduled to start Thursday night and Post 58 would  get the advantage of the home field in games one and three.

Stay in touch as I will blog as soon as Joe can tell Me Monday morning whether there is a game Monday night or not.
