No More Football This Year In Nash County

Despite the hurt the Bulldogs of Nash Central are going through right now they have completed the best year ever in the short history of the school going 9-3

They had Friday's game in hand all they needed was one more defensive play twice and failed to get the job done.  Hunt was faced with fourth down on the four yard line with 28 seconds to go and a stop and they play next week and yet Hunt scored and tied the game.  The first series of overtime after the Bulldogs had then again in a fourth down and they let it get away.

Finally their three losses are to teams with a combined 23-1 record..  New Bern is 11-1 and of Course Hunt is 12-0 having beaten the Bulldogs twice.  Thirty years from now that will be a sweet year to remember despite having lost a teammate during the season.

Hunt now standing at 12-0 you can say the reverse about them.  They were down and out and down twice  to one play and the season being over and they did what needed to be done.  Their reward a third round home game against Cardinal Gibbons.  They have lost only once this season and of course we talked about this a couple of weeks ago.  What in the world are they doing playing in the public schools state championships.  I think that will need to be an issue addressed before the next  realignment after 2012/2013 school year.

The two time defending 2-A State Champs the Tarboro Vikings are trying to set some type of record  for the team that has to travel the most to make it to the state Championship.  Round three they head to Edenton to meet the Aces of Holmes High School.  The Aces 12-0 will still be over and hour ride to get to the game for the Vikings.  I honestly thought they would lose at Northside  and this will not be much easier for Tarboro.

North Edgecombe has a home game in the third round with 8-4 Jones Senior.  We can compare opponents as both playoff games for Jones have been against Tar Roanoke teams.  They beat Northampton West in the opening round 28-0 at home while the Warriors lost at West way back in September.  The Warriors beat SE Halifax by ten and Jones shut them out 15-0 Friday night.  This will be a toughie for the Warriors.

Tonight on the Stretchlon Sports Show I will have Tia Hudgins of Rocky Mount the Big East Player Of The Year in Volleyball. Around 8.30 I will have the Price Sister Randi and Kaley of Nash Central.  They both were players of the year in Tennis.
