If he went to Raleigh to play in the Holiday Tournament knowing that more than 100 scouts could be in attendance and one just might like what they see then Terrill Hilliard got his money worth from playing this week in Raleigh. Yesterday he score 25 in a losing effort and today another eye opening 25 point game but once again not enough to bring victory as Rocky Mount loses to Clayton 62-60 in overtime.
The Gryphons led throughout the first three quarters and at one time lead by 16 points before Gary Clark tossed in 17 fourth quarter points to get the game to overtime. The overtime saw Clayton out score the Gryphons 7-5 to win third place in the Shavlik Randolph Bracket in the High School OT .Com Invitational Tournament
The loss drops the Gryphons to 8-3 on the season but their schedule has been a killer in their 11 games. They have played Five 4-A schools which considering they won three of those is a real builder for the conference season that is just around the corner next week. Rocky Mount opens at home next Tuesday against a team that they beat by 36 in Knightdale's Tournament at Thanksgiving in Fike.
The Lady Gryphons after their two wins this week at Cary Academy now stand at 9-2 and when you consider that their two losses come to two teams that have combined to lose only once this season then they are off to a tremendous start too.
