Northern Girls Top Gryphons

It just well might be the best match up of any game for the remainder of the Nash County Christmas Tournament as unbeaten Northern Nash and once beaten Rocky Mount squared off in the first game of this years Christmas Tournament.

This game being played on a neutral floor at Southern Nash you would suspect that this gives you some idea of who is the strongest.  You would expect each team to defend their home ground when ever they play each other in conference play in January and February.  So the tie breaker would be the neutral floor game and Northern wins 53-40.

  Rocky Mount will play Tuesday night in the girls third place game at 6 PM while Northern will not play in the Tournament Championship game until 6.30 Wednesday.  Rocky Mount boys will play Northern boys in the opening round boys game at 7.30 Tuesday so both Gryphon teams are in action at Southern Nash.  The cameras of the Stretchlon Sports Show will be covering the Championship games Wednesday.

You know Tarboro's Todd Gurley won the MVP of the Shrine Bowl game getting close to 120 yards rushing and he had the first play of the game called back by holding.  He only went 96 yards for a touchdown.  Those who have seen both play say the Gurley is close to being the best ever at Tarboro but is not quite as good as Kelvin Bryant.  Even if he is close to being as good he's doggone good.

I am writing tonight just a few minutes before Monday Night Football.  Can any one tell me why in their right mind would Pittsburgh play  Ben Rothlesburger since he has  a sprained ankle.  It is three weeks from the playoffs and they need him healthy for the playoffs.

Football is a sport that you spend all week preparing and if you are like Indianapolis and have lost 13 in a row you finally win one and that one game makes all those losses go away at least until Saturday when they play again.  In the case of the Packers all the talk of them going 19-0 is all gone and with their injuries piling up on their line they will be lucky to make  it to the NFC Championship game. I suspect the NFC champion will be who ever is the home team.  Green Bay and New Orleans could be there and the final score could be 45-44.

I guess you have heard there is only one NFL game next Sunday Christmas Day  and that is the NBC Sunday night game.  All others are being played Saturday.

My guy Philip Rivers went over 4,000 yards last night for the season  in passing yards.  He is only the third player in NFL history to have at least 4,000 four years in a row.  Considering a month ago he was the bum quarterback of the NFL his stats are now the 11th best in NFL.. Eli Manning who Rivers will fore ever be linked after the draft day trade is ninth.  Just a month ago everyone was singing Manning's praises  how he had become and elite quarterback.  Manning's Quarterback rating is 91 now and Rivers is up to 89.  Just three weeks ago there was a 20 point difference in their ratings.
