Taking Advanvantage Of Opportunities

Tim Tebow has done it again.  The Denver defense has kept him in another game in which they have scored less than 20 points and won again.  That is seven out of eight for Tebow as a starting quarterback in the NFL.  You have to give him credit regardless of how he does it, if he has a chance he thinks he can win and he has got his teammates believing.

If it is 20-0 with four minutes to go he has no chance.  Right now the playoff teams look like, New England, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Houston and the Jets.  Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Houston and the Jets could easily be 13-10 type  games but New England they will never beat scoring just 16 points or less.

There is no doubt that luck plays a big factor and sometimes you make your own luck.  Why did the Bears runner fumble as he is breaking through the line heading for what he thought was a game winning run?  A defender put his hand on the ball and knocked it away.  Denver didn't have anything to do with the runner running out of bounds to kill the clock for  the Bronco's.

Four weeks ago San Diego loses at the Bears  and they knock Jay Cutler our for the year, with it they knocked Chicago out too because they have no offense without Cutler.  Today without Cutler the Bears offense can't get out of their own way.  Denver took advantage of their luck.

They also because of the schedule got the Jets and Patriots at home while San Diego had to go to the Jets Patriots.  Denver beat the Jets and get New England next week and Chargers lost both on the road.  This next week will tell the tale on Tebow.  If they only score 10 or 13 they will lose by 24-13 or so but if they somehow win 16-13 they have a shot in playoffs.  It will be because of their defense.

Lost in all of this excitement about Tebow is John Fox.  Remember he is a defensive coach and even  went to the Super Bowl with the Panthers  with Jake Delhomme as the Panther QB.  Yes Tim Tebow just might be the right kind of quarterback for the kind of coach that John Fox is.

I find it hard for all the National Media who eight weeks ago had written Tebow off before  he had played in a fourth quarter.  I agree with them that Tebow is not very good from start to finish but boy right now he is the best at the finish or at least as long as his defense will keep the other side less than 20.  There is no one in the media that still thinks  he's any good.

I find it hard to think ten years from now Tebow is still around.  He like Cam Newton they are not accurate passers.  Newton inaccuracies are mostly from the decisions he makes.  In time Newton can make better decisions when to pass and when not too.  Tebow is just not  and accurate passer and I think that is something that he will never get much better at.  I also think over time teams will figure out how to stop him.

In the mean time however Tebow is  a breath of fresh air  and he is taking advantage of every opportunity.
