Hung Up On The Minor Things In Life

I will admit that Saturday I watched as N C State laid a killing on Wake Forest.  I enjoyed the Pack performance so much that I had forgotten to check the other channel as Carolina- Florida State started an hour after the Pack did.  I received a text you had better check the Carolina game.  I did at the conclusion of the State-Wake game and I have to admit to you Carolina fans I hung to the end of the Carolina game because I enjoyed that thumping that the Heels got very much.

Less than fifteen seconds remained and watching on TV it seems as if Carolina is going to walk off the court before the game ends.  I think for a moment the TV guys had no idea what was going on. I thought to myself students must be throwing stuff at the Carolina bench and Roy is complaining.  He never complains when they are winning on the road.  The TV guys  suggested that Leonard Hamilton had spoken to Roy that it might be a good idea if Carolina left the floor so no one would be hurt when the Florida State students  stormed the court which they did.  Roy and the bench left leaving the walk on players to fend for themselves when the student onslaught started.

When the TV guys finally told all of us watching on TV what was happening I had no problem with the Heels leaving the court.  I like many was screaming at the TV that Roy was quitting the game but once the explanation was given I was disappointed in the fact that I thought that was a nice gesture by Leonard Hamilton to mention that to Roy.  If I can fuss at all it would be to say that Roy probably should have been the captain of his ship and he remained court side while the scrubs finished up receiving the stomping.

Three and four days have passed and people are crucifying Roy for doing the safe thing.  Yes he acted like the captain of the cruise ship in Italy and abandoned his players still on the court but I accept his explanation that he thought they called the game with time still on the clock.  He didn't realize that those mop up players finished the game and had to endure running the gauntlet to get to the dressing room.

How can I or anyone else call him a liar.  Those that are jumping on Roy whether they are media or fans looking for something to yell about have focused on the wrong thing.  Carolina got their tail handed to them on a bread platter and the way they played was very un Carolina like.  People are focused on the wrong thing.  fifteen seconds instead of the thirty nine minutes and forty five seconds that lead up to that point.

We have become a society of hate.  Even when there is a reason I don't have to believe it because I don't like you and the truth doesn't matter.  Where have we gone that whether it was right or wrong because I believe I don't like you I will never believe anything you say.

Florida State made a safety suggestion that Roy thought was wise.  He didn't go over to Leonard Hamilton and say I know your folks are going to storm the floor we're getting out of here.  I think the actions of the Florida State people to suggest that Carolina leave was a very prudent thing to do.  Get off Roy's back for leaving the court.  If you are going to scream at him scream that his team was not very good Saturday.  Don't scream to just be screaming.
