Got news to pass along as three players from Nash County have made the NCPreps All State Basketball team. Alexus Hill a Sophomore for the Lady Knights of Northern Nash, J'Krya Brown a Junior for the Lady Gryphons are member of the 3-A All State Team. Jamie Cherry From West Craven is the Female 3-A player of the year.
Senior Gryphon Terrill Hilliard is on the 3-A boys All State team. He is the only local player. Hickory the Gryphons foe tonight in Chapel Hill has Jalen Byrd on the squad. Chapel Hill's Denzel Ingram is the 3-A Play of The year.
In the category of how talented is she? Tia Hudgins who has never played soccer in her life showed up for the Lady Gryphons soccer practice Tuesday after having just played in her last basketball game on Saturday. Thursday she was in Goal as the Lady Gryphons won 5-2 with Hudgins as goalie. I guess she thinks those shots coming at her are rebounds and got all the shots but two. I wonder whether she can play softball?
Don't know what time you plan on leaving to make the trip to Chapel Hill but the team bus leaves at 3pm Saturday afternoon from in front of the gym. Sure would be nice to send them on their way with a cheering crowd there. Those of you that see Morgan at school you know she has her car painted and tonight with new Gryphon flags to display while heading to the Hill our family car is now decorated in blue and gold.
Radio time is 6.30 on Power 95.5 as Wes Bradshaw will be doing the play by play and I'll be sitting beside him within five feet of Roy Williams stomping grounds. Power 95's Paul Andre will be our third member of the crew in bringing you the game for those of you not going to the Dome.
Don't know whether you have ever tried to watch a sporting event live streaming and sometimes it can be very frustrating. Time Warner Cable is the largest cable system in North Carolina and they have the rights to the TV coverage and since we are not part of the Time Warner system in Rocky Mount you can go on line to news14.com and click on the 3-A game and watch the feed. There is nothing like being there however. Turn down the TV and listen to us.
My lovely wife Pat will be blogging the score at end of each quarter and I hope I have enough time to blog before we are run out of the Dean Dome. 2010 we were still on the air an hour after the game and the Dome clean up crew started turning the lights out on us as we were signing off the air.
